Hreflang Tag
Hreflang is an attribute, normally placed in a link element in the HTML head of a web page, to specify additional URLs with the same or similar content in other languages or for specific regions. Such a link element would have the following syntax:
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="es" href="http://es.example.com/" />
, where "es" specifies the language of the target link The information in the hreflang attributes inform Google that the translated page is related to the original and is not plagiarized and helps Google provide the URL in the requested language in its search results. Hreflang attributes can also be added to HTTP headers for non-HTML files like PDFs or to a sitemap. For a comprehensive resource on the implementation of the hreflang attributes,
see Google's guidelines.
